On Winding Numbers

Abstract:
We will show some links between Noncommutative Goemetry (more precisely,
cyclic cohomology) and (studies on) Winding Numbers (from harmonic analysis). The ideas
originated in Connes, and most results are due to Shuoxing ZHOU.
