Minimal dynamics and the Jiang-Su algebra

Abstract:
I will present a construction for minimal dynamical systems on point-like spaces. Such a system may be taken to be uniquely ergodic and in this case the C*-algebra associated to its orbit-breaking equivalence relation is isomorphic to the Jiang-Su algebra.

About the speaker:
Karen Strung got her Ph.D from University of Muenster and is currently a postdoc at Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IMPAN) in Warsaw, Poland.
